how can joeboard.com offer free classifieds?
this site was created by an average joe who believed that every community deserves an easy way to communicate with each other about events, community happenings and of course, classifieds. this site is supported through user contributions (through a joe-pass, for featured (top of the list) postings).
why is registration necessary?
when users respond to your posting with questions, their inquiry will be sent to the email address you provided during registration. joeboard.com asks for your email address in case there are problems with your posting. we respect your privacy and your registration info will not be given, rented or sold to anyone.
how can postings be edited, closed or relisted?
log in, click on "my items" to access current or expired postings.
-with the "open items" tab selected, you can choose to EDIT or CLOSE items.
- with the "closed items" tab selected, you can relist closed items.
note: only the TEXT of the item can be changed when re-listing. if you want to delete an image or change the "Featured" status, do NOT relist, create a new posting instead.
what is a joe-pass?
a joe-pass allows free posting of photos and free "featured" postings for every item listing. a year-long joe-pass is $11.93 and a season joe-pass is $7.97. you can sign up for a joe-pass when you register to use the site, or later at any time you'd like.
can non-profits, schools & churches get a special joe-pass?
yes, since community is joe's thing, any non-profit, school or church can contact joeboard for a special joe-pass. first sign up for a regular joe account, then just contact joe and let him know about your organization and your username on joeboard.com. if at all possible, please setup your username using an email address that belongs to your organization's domain.
what does "report item" mean?
you may report an item that you feel is somehow inappropriate for the site - wrong category, unsuitable, etc. we will review your comments and take any neccessary action.
what are "hottest items"?
hottest items are the postings with the most views.
what are “featured” items?
featured items appear at the top of their category. during posting, you have the option to make your item a “featured” item for $4, which will increase it's visibility. featured items are somewhat similar to “sponsored” links on search engines. the' featured' status option is only available when posting a new item.
how are images uploaded ?
to post a photo, you’ll need a digital version of it on your computer. digital images from any digital camera will work, or you (or a friend) can use a scanner to create a digital image from a standard print.

a preview of the image appears before it's posted.
- multiple images are allow per posting.
- after you press finish, if you've chosen paid features, you are billed and will receive an email receipt.
if you add more images later to the same posting, you will be charged after you press finish. unfortunately, we can't give credit for images deleted after you have pressed finish.
how are photo/featured items paid for?
joeboard.com accepts payments via via paypal for featured items which will appear at the top of classifieds listings.
passwords - how to change or retrieve a lost password?
passwords can be changed or re-set under the "account info " link. click on "lost password" and a new random password will be generated and sent to the email address on file. after logging in, passwords can be changed on the "account info" page by clicking on "change password". the "change password" link only appears if you are logged in.
tips on posting garage/yard sales & open houses:
put the date & address in the title of your posting – this helps other viewers. any user can then print out the page of garage/yard sales and take it with them.
should a contact email address be included in the description?
there is NO need to put your email address in your description. other viewers can contact you through the "reply to posting" form located below your description. this way your email address stays hidden and safe from spammers. others will see your email address only if you choose to respond to their inquiry.
what kind of things qualify as "event calendar"items?
event calendar items are typically SPECIAL 1-5 day social, entertainment, informative, music or athletic happenings put on by a business or organization that others may attend. examples of events are: concerts, plays, speakers, entertainment events, athletic races or competitions, etc. please do NOT post open houses, store sales, services for hire, garage/yard sales, classes or camps as events - those items should all be posted as classifieds.
how can billing information be updated?
log in and click on the link "account info/edit billing " to change the method of payment, credit card number or expiration date.
